Betsy moved to Kentucky in 2015 to join MACED’s staff after living as a displaced Appalachian in the Midwest for 20 years. Having grown up in the mountains of East Tennessee where her family has lived for 7 generations, Betsy brings a deep love for Appalachian people, culture and place to her work for MACED. She holds a BA from the University of Tennessee and an M.Div. from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis where she also trained as a pastoral psychotherapist. Betsy worked for many years as a psychotherapist and program administrator for the Julian Center, an agency serving survivors of domestic violence in Central Indiana. Betsy is thrilled to call Berea and East Kentucky home.
